I'm Andrew. I built this site after a 3-day power outage in Pennsylvania convinced me I needed a portable power station. When I started shopping, I realized I had no idea if the prices I was seeing were actually good. Was the EcoFlow DELTA 2 at $799 a deal? Or was it $699 last week and I was about to overpay?

Nobody tracked this stuff. Review sites tell you what to buy, but not when. The manufacturer sites show you today's price with no context. Reddit threads disappear after a day. So I built a pipeline that checks portable power pricing across multiple retailers daily and keeps a running history of what these units actually cost.

How it works

Every day, our system checks prices across the retailers that carry the preparedness gear we track. Every price gets recorded. Over time, this builds a picture of what a product normally costs, what a genuine sale looks like, and what a fake "sale" looks like.

We started with portable power stations. The same pipeline will expand to cover emergency food storage, water filtration, and other preparedness categories as the tracking matures — each category launches only when we can price it confidently.

When we say a deal is "20% below average," that's a fact from our database, not a marketing claim. When the history is still thin, we show the current price without pretending to know more than we do.

For the details on how we choose products, what counts as original data here, and where AI fits in the workflow, see our Editorial Standards.

How deal scores work

Every deal score is calculated against the 90-day rolling average for that product. A score of "15% below average" means the current price is 15% lower than the average of all prices we recorded in the past 90 days. No adjustments, no smoothing — just the raw math on real price observations.

We also track MSRP separately. Some retailers run perpetual "sales" against an inflated MSRP. We show you the actual price history so you can judge for yourself whether a discount is real.

Live pipeline stats

  • 10 launch products tracked across 4 retailers
  • 67 price observations recorded
  • Tracking since April 2026

What I'm building out

I'm building my own preparedness setup from scratch, and portable power is the first piece I needed to get right. I use the same data I publish here to decide when to buy. If I recommend something, it's because I've spent real time researching it and I'm watching the same price history myself.

We started narrow on purpose. Portable power is the current category. More categories may come later, as the tracking matures — not before.
